The Prodigal Son

Do you know the story of The Prodigal Son?

This is our household.

Oldest son struggles..
Mostly with schoolwork.
He gets frustrated easily, and it's only a downward spiral.

We pray hard for him.

He is the one who receives poor grades.
He is the one who gets punished.
He is the one who has to stay in from recesses.
He is the one who loses rewards at home.

He is also the one who gets all of the attention when it comes to school work.
Sometimes negative attention.
And sometimes positive attention.
But either way, it is all of the attention.

And when it finally "clicks" in his head, and he finally "gets it", he is the one who gets rejoices and pats-on-the-back from us and everyone around him.
And rewards.

And then there is his little brother, the younger son.
The one who doesn't struggle.
Schoolwork comes easily for him.

Sure, younger son is told daily what a good job he is doing, and to "keep it up"...
But he still doesn't get anywhere near the attention oldest son does.

And then I find myself struggling.

I hope and pray that younger son will understand someday.

We do see him.
We see what a great job he does.
And we are proud of him.

We are proud of both of these boys.

Just in different ways.
